Is there a bot (or semi-automated tool) that would read the Wikipedia tags from relations (or nodes, ways) and place a proper Wikidata tag to the same object? I have a problem that relations are not displaying in Wikimedia Maps because they do not have Wikidata tags (but they do have Wikipedia tags). asked 20 Jun '19, 12:18 Kozuch |
There is a Wikipedia plugin for the editor JOSM. It can fetch the proper wikidata object for a selected object based on the wikipedia tag and add the corresponding wikidata tag. You still have to manually select the objects but the lookup and tag placing is done automatically via a menu item in the data menu answered 20 Jun '19, 22:03 TZorn |
This is something that has been done in the past but it was highly contentious to the point of some of these mass updates having to be reverted outright because they would introduce too many errors. It is not something that should be done automatically. Instead, a human being should verify whether a Wikidata entry really describes the same object as the OSM object, and only then add the Wikidata tag. answered 20 Jun '19, 12:30 Frederik Ramm ♦ Well I need only specific objects right now - US Interstate Highways. I think there would be no risk with these objects, of course I would prefer semi-automated tool. I just found osm.wikidata.link website, but seems to have too broad search.

Maybe you could do data processing on your side instead of running a bot on the main OSM DB?
