What "South Africa Map" do you mean?

...and who is "South Africa Permission"?

Generally maps of any kind are copyrighted in essentially all countries or the world and can only be used for OpenStreetMap if there are special circumstances:

  • the terms the map are published are "open" and allow derivatives to be distributed on the terms of the ODbL
  • copyright of the map has expired (that is essentially only the case, with a few exceptions, for maps that are from very early in the last century depending on how they were published)
  • you have special permission and can document that.

Note that besides copyright there may be other national regulations that make using the map illegal.
