How to make a rectangle from a line?

0

This is the centerline of a former airport until 1992: http://umap.openstreetmap.fr/de/map/muenchen-riem-ehem-rwy_96816#14/48.1327/11.7021 How can I make a rectangle of it where the line ist the symmentry line (centre line)? The rectangle should have a width of 60 meters (30 m left, 30 m right).

I'd probably use JOSM with the building plugin; should allow you to attach to nodes for the starting edge and drag out to the distance you want it for one side. Repeat or copy/mirror for the other side and then join it all together as a single object...depending how precise you wanted to be in maintaining the original points relative to the new object.

Thx for your proposal to use JOSM. I did it with help of the German site http://www.senotto.de/index.html?Tipps%20und%20Tricks This can do it for one side. The other side I mirror "by hand".
