Hello - So I am a complete beginner and I added a garden center by simply dragging and dropping the symbol onto the map in potlatch - it was a week ago and while I see the point in potlatch I don't see it in the main map. One Answer:
No steps missed... you appear to have done everything correctly and the data point is indeed there (click on the "+" in the right corner of the map and tick the "Data" box in the "Overlays" section to see it). Unfortunately you happened to choose as your first edit a POI type (shop=garden_centre) that is not currently drawn by either of the usual renderers, so no symbol will be appearing on the main website until the maintainers of either Mapnik or Osmarender decide to include one for this.
