I emptied the list of external authentication providers (who needs an external provider when I only access this forum directly, was my idea). Now I can't login to my help-account in a normal fashion (I currently use the temporary login key). How do I fix this?

Auch wenn ich den "Anmeldedaten merken"-Button "ankreuze", fragt mich das Programm bei jeder neuen Anmeldung wieder nach Benutzernamen und Passwort. LG roland1407

Is seems that for the openstreetmap.org credentials to work for login on help.openstreetmap.org, the password has to fulfill certain properties. I've filed a separate question to ask what those are.

My data points so far:

  • A password generaged with pwgen -s 12 (i.e. 12 random alphanumeric characters) does work
  • an XKCD-style password (generated by xkcdpass IIRC) made up from 5 randomly chosen English words separated by spaces worked for OSM at large, but not for help.openstreetmap.org
