when I look at the area between Scharhörn and Nigehörn, the Saltmarsh isn't renedered in view mode. Instead some white polygon appears that doesn't appear in edit mode.

See https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/640898211

To reproduce, please compare the area in the middle when switching between view and edit mode (web UI).

How can I get hold of the white polygon and edit/remove it?

Thanks, Aeroid.

Thanks again for your help, but could you please have a second look at the borders of the white area. I can't find those in edit mode.

You probably meant different tag (wetland=saltmarsh instead of natural=saltmarsh):

This white polygon is just a bare land - together with clear water area around, because your polygon has no defined rendering for standard map style (OSM Carto) and is treated as empty space over land and the water.

Thanks, that explains why I didn't see the Saltmarsh. But what's the white polygon?

This is uncovered land color (not white).

The differences between edit mode and map are most likely due to the coastline not being updated. This happens sometimes. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Coastline
