It is raised at https://github.com/drolbr/Overpass-API/issues/515 and I have messaged https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/drolbr about it to make the maintainers aware. Likely the problem will be resolved in some hours or very few days. Alternatives are listed at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API#Public_Overpass_API_instances .
