Hi I am trying to get a comprehensive list of place type categories. I think we are missing categories and have an incoherent method to find. Looking for something with a brief explanation of the category types, name and number in excel form.

Maybe it would help if you could explain a bit more what problem you are trying to solve? "finding out what things are tagged as in OSM" clearly isn't an end goal; there's presumably some reason why you're asking the question.
thanks, we are looking at building an app to show nearby points of interest on a map. We are looking to filter off particular categories. Just want to make sure we have a comprehensive list to filter from.
Also, we wanted to check, do place names come with a numbering or unique identifier. Not that it necessarily matters, we just we wanted to be sure we had a complete view of the data structure.
