How to use tileserver-php with JOSM?

I would like to use tileserver-php with JOSM.

But the XYZ tile URL http://buildings.bplaced.net/tileserver.php?/index.json?/Vermont/{zoom}/{x}/{y}.pbf simply doesn't work, even when changing the weird protobuffer extension (pbf) to png/jpg.

Have you tried that software?
