[closed] Is there anywhere a regularly updated archive of the official OpenStreetMap wiki?

0

First of all, the problem I am trying to solve is to produce a list of the wiki pages containing the string “<br clear=”. Apparently, the search function in the wiki doesn’t catch HTML codes (or maybe I don’t know how to use it properly).

I can use grep to do the job but for that I need the wiki to be in my local hard disk, hence I need a way to transfer it there.

So, is there a public available archive anywhere or do I have to use wget with the recursive option (which is ok but it is slow and I think it might be stressful on the server side) ?

Regarding your apparently systematic cleanup idea: please disuss it e.g. at Talk:Wiki before going large scale (or even automatic).

A note regarding your last suggestion: no, please do not recursively wget the wiki... you already know it. And very likely you would be blocked in the course anyway.

Thanks for your concern; I want to assure you that it's not currently on my to-do list to mass clean up the Wiki; in fact I was only trying to figure out how well established was the use of the BR tag inside the wiki pages so that I could comprehend whether it was just an error of some user or a (old?) common practice. I think I am going to stop here and simply leave a short message in the Talk:Wiki.
