Might be a stupid question, but is it possible to search in the shown area only? I am using https://www.openstreetmap.org/ and whatever search term i put in, i get results from all over the world, independent of the currently open area. Thanks, Jens

This is a FAQ, the current visible area is used to priortize searches with names and addresses. It is currently not used if you are searching for POIs of a specific type which is not the primary focus of the facility.

If you want to search for specific kind of objects you arr better served with overpass-turbo.
