There is a local park that has the "leisure=park" tag on OSM (or, at least, it looks like it does on my screen), but when I run a search using Overpass Turbo to highlight areas with this tag, this park is not highlighted.

Can someone help me understand what I'm doing wrong?

If you mean George W. Johnson Park, then it shows up for me: Overpass Turbo query

Hugh. I must've been doing something wrong in Overpass Turbo then. It was only highlighting the baseball fields for me.

Thanks!

That sounds like you might have been searching for leisure=pitch

If you got the query from someone else there may be something else involved in the query. For example I know there are Overpass queries being passed around among Pokemon Go players that highlight only parks, sports grounds etcetera that were tagged before a specific date.

What's happened to me in the past is that NoScript (an add-on to the Firefox browser) has blocked a script in a shared Overpass link. Overpass will instead show you the last thing you happened to be looking at. If that's the case, you can force load it by selecting "unsafe reload" in the NoScript menu.
