I was walking in the countryside today (as I am wont) and unexpectedly came across what was obviously the site of some buildings. Subsequest research showed it was the site of Downey Castle, a manor house and farm, which was sold and removed in the late 1800's. My question is, should I mark this site on the map? It is obvious on the ground and aerial photography, so it should be marked if you follow the rule to mark what is there. On the other hand the castle is not there any more, and the buildings were removed so there are no ruins. There are a number of collapsed and partially collapsed cellars, some architectural stones and a huge retaining wall. If it is to be added as a POI, what are the relevant tags so someone searching for the site can find it, but without it appearing as a building? |
