I am interested in setting up a personal website similar to OpenGeoFiction, but I'm not sure how I would go about setting up map software and all that.

Basically, I am interested in setting up a website that is basically like OpenGeoFiction or similar sites, but I am looking for it to be on a map that I made. Are there any guides or tutorials on how I would go about doing this?

There are some basic notes on this page:

http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/OGF:Setting_up_your_own_server

so maybe you should ask the author of this page about details:
