I accidentally uploaded duplicate boundary polygons in the OSM database and i want to delete so that i remain with only one layer. The polygons are large and i am unable to delete using id editor. How can i get them deleted from the OSM database ?

One option could be to split them and then delete them node by node. Otherwise JOSM (depending on your equipment) can handle considerably larger areas than iD.
