Consider there is a small road and a rectangular field by the side of the road. What is the best/right way of drawing the adjacent field edge (Example: 1)?

  1. Should the field edge go along the road (way) without touching its nodes?
  2. Should the field edge share the nodes of the road, i.e. a fragment of the road is also an edge of the field?

To me, the (2) option seems to be better as it removes clutter in the editor and makes a nicer output map. However, I see a lot of examples when the contours duplicate each other. Strictly speaking, this is also closer to reality in many cases.
