id editor: creating multiple points, ways, areas, without having to click Area etc. again before each one

-1

The task: create fifteen houses, roads, etc. Why do we have to keep on clicking on Area, Line, or Point after each one? Why can't it guess that we probably want to enter another (area, line or point,) and if we didn't, only then we would click something to snap us out of that mode.

This sounds like a feature request and should be posted at https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/issues instead (you will need a GitHub account).

If you are doing lots of editing, it might be worth looking at JOSM. That makes some tasks much easier. There's a building_tools plugin which makes it much easier too.

Yes I was saving JOSM for when I have 75 houses to add. Today I only have 15.

I agree, but one thing you can use to make it a little better in iD is some of the keyboard shortcuts. For example, after you double-click to finish an area, click somewhere else to unselect it, then press 3 and you'll be in Area-drawing mode again. A list of the shortcuts is on the wiki: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/ID/Shortcuts
