Why aren't lakes and rivers shown at low zoom levels in the default map style, especially at zoom level 5? This is somewhat confusing especially where roads are shown but not some water forms. asked 01 Aug '17, 08:22  jc86035 |

This issue is already discussed here: https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/issues/1604 . Looks like the main reason is performance.
