Hi All,

I'm new in OSM and I am wondering is there any way to request the Chinese labeling "中国" to "Paracel Islands" since this is having border issue.

Thank you.

Can you explain where you see that labelling? What map or application is it in?

the label is "China" in Chinese word in OpenStreetMap.

Hi DebbieYSK, Please read these pages as well and remember that a name on an Island in the middle of nowhere still could be disputed. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Disputes The surrounding countries are all interested in the mining prospects beneath the sea. But only China has developed invasive actions, which are not according international rules or agreements. OSM does not support any action to change border lines wich are not accordingly international agreements. Greetz

Hi you should address that question to DWG, changing the name would start a maping war, as mentioned in the dispute pages.
