How do you add a gas station as a POI?

2

Gas Stations do not appear to be listed as a choice to label a point of interest.

In Potlatch 2, a gas station is indicated the the small gas pump icon in the "Transport" category.

amenity=fuel in potlatch2

In JOSM, follow the Presets » Transport » Car » Fuel, also indicated by a small gas pump icon.

If you are doing things the manual way, use key:amenity; value:fuel to add a gas station to OpenStreetMap.

If you'd like (and if appropriate for your area) you're welcome to add unusual fuel types, such as compressed natural gas (CNG).

See here on the OSM wiki for what can be used.
