Is there some way to list what data was updated/added to my database after a osm2pgsql --append ?

looking into default.style I can see osm_timestamp. Just I need to set --extra-attributes in osm2pgsql or must to put this as a line in default.style? What about the already imported data? Can I change this at next update or must import all over again?
