I've seen quite a few points of interest marking "historical" places. These are locations of old schools, churches, islands, etc. which no longer exist. Should all of these points be deleted? |

Although the historical points of interest are not there any more, it might be useful to keep some of the information. Often places are still called according to their old function. So, when deleting the historical places consider to retain the historic names using old_name=THEHISTORICNAME. |

There is a large number of places of historical interest in the United States that were imported from a source called GNIS, which contains many thousands of historical schools, churches and so on. Many of these no longer exist and were imported incorrectly. Feel free to remove features that no longer exist in the real world. |

The default answer is "map what is on the ground", meaning that if the feature is no longer visible on the surface it should not be on the map. There are exceptions to this, of course - borders and planned features might be mapped. |
