publishing/printing - How can I do this?

I like to publish OpenStreetMaps in my travel guide books. How can I do this? Download? Can I work on the files afterwards? I know I have to show the source.

short answer: yes, you can. You might want to have a look at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_on_Paper and then tell us here where your problems are or what your requirements are (please log in and then "edit" your question text). Keep in mind, that there no single OpenStreetMap map. There are many - made of the same pile of data (which is what "OpenStreetMap" is).
