Hello, my question is when will the satellite data be updated in Kosovo? Because so many areas are not useable. asked 24 Dec '16, 19:52 mxrvks andy mackey |
I think this answers your question: https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/21683/why-are-satellite-images-heavely-outdated answered 24 Dec '16, 21:22 Leeturtle |
Most Aerial imagery is donated for our use. You can probably guess it is expensive to make. Companies will invest in new images only if they can make a profit. I met a guy on a group walk who had mapped a village in 2000 several years prior to openstreetmap. He had contributed to the fuel cost of a pilot who needed to keep up his annual flying hours, He then photographed the village from the air and mapped it. Areas of expanding economies may be a candidate for new surveys, but don't hold your breath. Cambridge UK images are I think at least 4 years old. Note most images are i believe made with aircraft not sats. answered 24 Dec '16, 20:26 andy mackey The map in my answer http://www.pghardy.net/comberton/map/
