The clue is in what you've written. Select a closed way which is approximately circular and click make way circular for it to make it circular. Select a way where the angles are approximately right angles and click the button for them to be made right angles. You could try this in Potlatch 2 (if you then close the browser window without saving, for example) to see how it works. answered 08 Dec '16, 16:03  EdLoach ♦ 3 The circle tool is good for making tidy roundabouts and the square tool is useful for buildings. As an aside, it might be useful to know that there's a "test" version of the OSM API over at http://master.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ . It uses separate credentials, so you'll need to sign up specifically for it, but you can experiment in the editors all you like there.
