The tracks you load to the openstreetmap are used for editing the map. If you open the 'Edit' button you will see your track (drag and drop your gpx track into iD is probably easiest) and then be able to make additions/alterations to the map using your new gps trace as a guide. Thanks for adding your gps trace to the openstreetmap to assist other mappers make the map.

If you want to see your gpx track with the openstreetmap as a background you should use one of these track drawing websites

My favourite is GPS Visualizer ... just load your gpx and 'Draw the map'

As for adding the map to your site, I will leave for others to assist, but Umap might be a good option.

Your uploaded track is not normally visible on the OSM map at www.openstreetmap.org. It will only become visible in one of the editors mappers use to assist them in either aligning satellite imagery or as a guide to trace when adding a highway. If you are not interested in adding data to OSM, your tracks will be helpful to others and you are encouraged to continue uploading them but you will not be able to use them for yourself directly.

If, however, you click on the Edit link on that page and then select "Edit with iD" you can see GPX traces by selecting Map Data from the right side menu or typing an "F" to expose it. Select "Browse for Local GPX file", locate the GPX file you want and it will appear on the screen.

Cheers,

Dave

While I was writing my answer, I see others have replied with more complete information. I normally use JOSM and should probably not have replied to this question. Live and learn.

I guess your question is not about editing/contributing to OpenStreetMap, right?

We had the same question before, but I cannot find it now. In the meantime: See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Track_drawing_websites

@andy mackey: yes, but the question is also about "load the map on my site" (I guess "my website" is meant) – a local program does not help with this.
