Hey So I downloaded a rather large GIS file that had all of Europe which contained places of interest, points, railways, waterways, roads, buildings, land use, and natural areas. As I have worked with it to do what I needed to do I have lost the metadata and do not remember what the original source was called. Is there anyway I might obtain the original file or atleast its name so I can record it in my own metadata? asked 27 Sep '16, 04:55 Kric |
Do you have backups from which you can restore the original file (with meta data). answered 27 Sep '16, 05:46 nevw I do not have a back up and I recently had to switch computers, the one I originally used crapped out. I will try finding this program but I have a Dell so I'm not sure if they have a similar program thank.

Geofabrik sells continent-wide shapefiles. You might also want to check learnosm and openstreetmapdata, but it doesn't look like they have Europe-wide files. Or you could search for "europe shapefile" and you'll find a lot of hits, although most of them won't be OSM data. answered 29 Sep '16, 09:36 Vincent de P... ♦ |
