I am a complete beginner! I have edited a simple map using potlach 2, saved it, manually selected an area to export, then exported it apparently successfully to PaintShop (and also to paint.Net). the image which appears in paintShop is the same as that I edited in OSM However, when I print, I get something very different. Street and palve names are shifted away from true locations, and legends (keys) are overlaid on the map, making it completely useless. How can I print the simple map that I see in OSM, but don't get when I print? I'd be grateful for any help asked 15 May '11, 14:18 colin2010 |
You can try all programs or web services listen on OSM on paper. Or try to use the export tab on osm.org and choose PDF as export format. answered 15 May '11, 19:19 stephan75 |
Can you describe the steps you took for printing? It sounds like you might have printed an Osmarender rendering of the map. Osmarender is an alternative renderer which tends to display icons and names for all objects, while the standard renderer Mapnik is more selective about what it displays. P.S. What is a palve? answered 15 May '11, 15:25 tongro |
I printed a map from the OSM screen ,the one with the sotm and logo,I exported it as mapnik jpeg 27500 thats 3 down from max magnification.clicked on down load and printed it (WIN XP) I got a good grey scale print almost full A4 I don't have a colour cartridge at moment so not sure on colour. micro soft photo editor was also used open download and print. answered 15 May '11, 16:20 andy mackey |
Hi, welcome to Openstreetmap! Could you please upload the map file you generated somewhere (on your homepage, or to a service like rapidshare.com), and edit the link into your question. Then we can have a look at the file you generated, and see what went wrong. Without the file, it's hard to tell where the problem is.
Also, which image format did you choose when you exported the image (under "Options/Format")? Try selecting PNG or JPEG if you want an image to edit and print.
