How to export directions to GPX?

The main OSM website doesn't offer GPX exports of the direction services. However you can use these direction services directly, usually they will provide GPX exports themselves:

https://graphhopper.com/maps/
http://www.openrouteservice.org/
http://www.yournavigation.org/
http://brouter.de/brouter-web/ (great for bicycle routing)
~~http://map.project-osrm.org/~~ (no longer offers GPX exports, see comments)

The wiki has a list of OSM-based online routers where you can find even more direction services.

Thanks for the reply. It seems that http://map.project-osrm.org/ no longer exports to GPX. This ticket explains that the feature was removed. https://github.com/Project-OSRM/osrm-backend/issues/1489

https://graphhopper.com/maps/ will export to GPX.

I just tried the graphhopper link that scai provided and it worked fine.
Enter the start point in the first box and select from the list of addresses the search finds, do the same for the destination box, then the route is drawn on a map. Just below the two search boxes there is a ‘gpx’ text link and when you select it you are asked if you want a gpx route, track or waypoints. I selected track and I was offered an option to download to dropbox ... I instead chose ‘more’ options and was able to send it to my email address and it was sent fine and I opened it in Guru maps and it looked ok.
