Downloading GPS tracks from OpenStreetMap

If the owner of a track has made it Public or Identifiable you can download the original file from OpenStreetMap including any information not used by OSM itself. For tracks that are trackable you may be able to reconstruct the trace using JOSM or Merkaartor, but it will be a time-consuming and error-prone process.

How useful these tracks are is another question. Some will be specific mapping trips, but they may also be a journey a mapper was going on anyway. In either case, they may not be much use for navigation. For that you're better off using one of the map generation packages for your model of GPS.
