Hello, I'm trying to edit road names in the location above but the road trunks are wrongly setup, hence I end up having the road name applied to a section which is a new road.

How can I edit the trunks first?

Thanks

Hi Which roads are you talking about, a link would do !

0 There are few of them as far as I can see from maps.me (that allows me to change the road name to later send data back to osm). If you can suggest how to provide a link to the road, I'll pass one, but the location is Lettomanoppello in Province Of Chieti, Italy.

Just a bit on the left. The town centrer is the one that has problems. Add far as I can see the road have no names and u was trying to add them on maps.me. That's when i realised the road intersections are not accurate.

I expect that you would need to use one of the main editors like ID, Potlatch 2 or Josm, using a pc, to move or realign the roads, add a node to places where you want to split the road to add the name to the right sections.

I noticed a note on the map where you may like to split a damaged part of a road and tag it access=no and highway=construction until it is repaired.

@andreamoro: thanks for your help in that region! That's much needed! :-)

Hi andreamoro

The editor in maps.me has its limitations. I suspect you need to split the roads in question and you will need to use a "proper" editor for that.

If you have a desktop PC starting with the in browser editor iD would be a good idea (that's what you get when you click the "edit" button on openstreetmap.org).

Other current and full editors (I am specifically not pointing to the confusing list on our wiki here):

Happy mapping!

Thanks for the info. I managed to use the web editor on the osm site. I bet I've done it correctly, but it's not that easy to manage all. I struggled to understand how to re join two trunks, but at least I was able to report the blocked road, one in a very dangerous status and not reported by the local authority. Thankfully I was driving during the day, otherwise I would have fallen with the whole car.

Also, I believe the definition of primary, secondary and tertiary road sounds be revisited according to the country they are used.

See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/WikiProject_Italy for information on our community in Italy and some information on Italy specific tagging.

@SimonPoole: well, at least the links to the editors are not broken in our "confusing" wiki page – quite an advantage. ;-)

well I don't really feel responsible for the brokeness of the site software, and yes, the wiki page is full of rubbish.

hehe, thanks for fixing the links. [link text](link url) works fine, too. I noticed GoMap is missing on the https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Comparison_of_editors page, would you like to add it?

@andreamoro: please keep in mind, that temporary (days, weeks, ...) road blockings should not be incorporated into our data. There are other dynamic info systems (including traffic jam) available, OSM is not really made for this kind of dynamic data.

@aseerel4c26 indeed. Those roads are out of service, done of them for 2 years and more. Recent thunderstorm completely devastated some other areas and the Italian road system is like a pasta drainer

@andreamoro: okay, thanks for the clarification. That's fine in this case! Best wishes for yourself on your tours on those roads!

Cheers. I'll add as much as I can considering I'm on holiday and that although these are my places I'm no longer living here as I expat 7 years ago.
