How do I get my account deleted?

2

I no longer participate in OSM and don't want to get spammed by mail from people who see my old edits. How can I get my account deleted?

In the US, all websites are required to have both a toll-free number and an online process to request account deletion or personal information erasure.

This also falls under The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which governs how personal data of individuals in the EU may be processed and transferred, which went into effect on May 25, 2018. and the Data Protection Act 2018 which is the UK’s implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The UK GDPR introduces a right for individuals to have personal data erased. Under Article 17 of the UK GDPR individuals have the right to have personal data erased.

I'd advocate people commenting your work don't spam you, and by registering on OSM you did accept this before.

Now, if you don't wish to hear about us there are two simple things you can do without even deleting your account, it's changing your OSM settings so as not to receive any comments, and potentially updating your email to something explicitly nonexistent (adding .invalid...) -but indeed, you perfectly can uncheck all comment functions, and it just works.

I hope I helped you, in spite of the fact you called me a spammer which to me is an insult.

Changing the email to something invalid is a REALLY bad idea.

He wants to leave, Petschge.

And OSM being what it is there is no easy, automated way to cancel his account -which we may even want to refuse as it is linked to his edits -so we have to find something simple...

I reedited my text to better fit your remark; if it still shocks you I'll delete it.
