How to map a house built with Bahareque

0

Some old houses in different countries in South America, and particularly in Colombia, they are built with a special technique called Bahareque that mixes mud with guadua and other material.

In the Key:building:material section of the wiki there is nothing about other materials.

How can I map a building with that material?

The wiki is a guide, not a requirement. You are free to add another value for the building:material tag if that's accurate and helpful. It sounds like building:material=bahareque sounds like a good idea for your example. If this is a thing only found in your area, you should try to contact mappers in your area, so that you, as a group, decide on the best value to use. It also allows you to tell them about this new value, maybe they might start mapping it then.

Remember, the wiki is a guide, not a rulebook.

Hi AngocA, building:material=timber_framing found in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:building:material the material in between the framing is mud and reed, willows or alike. It’s practical the oldest way to build a reinforced wall that will last some time. Feel free to use building:material=bahareque Consider adding historic=building as well if the house/building is old enough. The Wiki should get your attention as well.
