This Sitka Seaplane Base / airport is currently defunct. I'm wondering if it's best to delete the node, which would lead to it looking to some like it hasn't been mapped, or tag it defunct. I didn't find a tag of such sorts, so I thought I should ask. |

If the airport is defunct for just a short period of time (roughly less 6 months), do nothing. Otherwise offline data users would be harmed too much. It is closed for good, thanks for the help.

It depends. Normally I'd say "lifecycle tagging" (as aseerel4c26 already has), but what exactly is a seaplane base? Is it just a spot in sea where seaplanes used to take off from? If so, and there's nothing at all there now, I'd just delete the node. However, if there is something left (perhaps on-shore buildings) then it may be worth tagging with an appropriate lifecycle tag. You may also want to consider adding the data to OpenHistoricalMap - see http://www.openhistoricalmap.org/about for more information. As an aside, this node has come from the "our airports" import. That is claimed, on http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Import/Catalogue#One-Time_Imports to be public domain, but there have been questions about that, such as https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/newbies/2011-August/006584.html . 2
There is a dock there in a state of disrepair so someone could try to use it still but it's been condemned.
