Hi,

I'm a new user and member of a music band in south of France. For our blog I would like to import all events of the area and put them on OSM.

I've tried to import FB events, but I didn't find any way to import them on OSM.

Thank's a lot for your help !

Best regards.

OSM (the map data) isn't really about "events", it's about "places" and other things that exist for more than just a short period of time, and a verifiable on the ground (e.g. "this is where X building is").

Can you explain a little bit more about what you're trying to do? If you'd like to create your own map showing where events are overlaid on top of a map, then maybe https://umap.openstreetmap.fr might be what you want?

@SomeoneElse: Maybe Léo was not even aware of the fact that OSM's data (and hence maps) is editable by everyone (similar to Wikipedia), welcome. :-) Indeed umap would be the way to go for what we can guess here.

Thank you for your comments, umap is interresting ! The main think is how to automate the import of Facebook events in OSM or uMap ? I can do it manually and add all events in my area, but i didn't find any way to do that automatically each week. (I would like to update the map each week, and do this update manually). Thank you again ! Kind regards.

Note that facebook is not a legit source for data for OSM, typically who ever entered the data originally gave FB an exclusive licence to exploit the submited contents (if you originally entered the data you can use your original source). Naturally the data still needs to be suitable for OSM in more general terms too.

@SimonPoole: while this is true, of course, for a data import into our database, I really don't think that a data import is meant here. I guess Léo wants to "put them on OSM" - just use some OSM-based map as background and display markers at the events positions in a second layer.

As explained in the comments:

OpenStreetMap is a project, whose main "product" (if you want to call it that) is a database. The map you see on http://www.openstreetmap.org/ is one way of showing the data in this database.

So if by "import all events of the area and put them on OSM" you mean importing them into the database, then no, you must not do that. The OSM database is meant for geographical information, not for event information (not to mention there may well be licensing problems).

If you just want to display events on a map based on OSM data somewhere, that is quite possible. What you would do in that case is build your own website with a map based on OSM data, then add your events to that map. There are many ways to do that. See e.g.
