Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

I've had this problem for a couple months now. Whenever I try to save changes in iD, the 'Save' button remains greyed out and I can't click on it, regardless of what I'm trying to edit. I have tried different browsers, different computers, even creating another account, but the problem has persisted. Does anyone know what I can do to fix iD?

Someone else recently asked this question, it was answered here :- https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/47044/save-button-not-active Apparently you have to make a comment before being able to save. Does that help?

Thank you! This worked.

I was similarly confused when using iD - the focus switch to the left sidebar is not at all obvious. Perhaps adding a title to the inactive Save button (or another cue) might help the users there...hmm...off to Github I go!
