How to map a paddle/lock gate to control water level in ponds?

Hello, there.

How am I supposed to map paddle or lock gates (I'm not sure of the English word) for controlling water levels in ponds or small canals, like this:

Until then, I mapped them as waterway=lock_gate, but doesn't it model lock gates for boats only?
