with aerial images as background, umap would be almost perfect for everything.

Karte: https://basemap.at/bmapp/index.html#{%22center%22:[1445590,6059660],%22zoom%22:8.314295600058685,%22rotation%22:0,%22layers%22:%221000000000%22}

Kann das jemand einbauen, so wie zum Beispiel [IGN Image aérienne (France)] in UMAP als Hintergrund ausgewählt werden kann?

Vielen Dank!

How can it be possible to use UMAP to display the maps + aerial photos of the public BASEMAP from Austria as background lies?

https://basemap.at/ is seen, free of charge, freely accessible: https://basemap.at/# license

Map: https://basemap.at/bmapp/index.html# Zonen%22center%22:[1445590,6059660‹,%22zoom%22:8.314295600058685,%22rotation%22:0,%22layers%22:%221000000000% 22}

Can someone incorporate this, like for example [IGN Image aérienne (France)] in UMAP can be used as a background?

Thank you! > karl zauner@radlobby.at

Both Bing and Google have usage limits for their aerial imagery; if your site uses more than X tiles per month you have to pay. Hence if umap were to allow aerial imagery, it is very likely that it would never work because they would always be above the limit!

Umap is open source. You can install your own version of umap on your own server and register with Bing or Google for a free aerial imagery key, and add that to your own umap.

Sorry for the interruption, but this seems to me like a way to use background satellite imagery other than the ones used by openstreetmap ( iD method), which is something i've been trying to do for a while now. Please can you inform me on the subject ?

@Big_Borz: are you talking about editing/contributing to OSM or just using OSM's data/maps somehow?

(04 Feb '16, 22:03) aseerel4c26 ♦

I'm talking about editing and mapping it myself.

@Big_Borz: in case you mean editing (and mapping for) OSM data: please keep in mind that we are not allowed to use any other maps or aerial imagery - unless it is clearly allowed. E.g. google's imagery is not allowed to be used for your contributions at OSM. See 1 and 2. So, unless you know better, please stick to the ones presented by default by your editor.

@aseerel4c26 Ok thanks. I guess I have to stick with the outdated Bing imagery.

(05 Feb '16, 22:34) Big_Borz

@Big_Borz: yes, and in some regions other aerial providers are available (e.g. mapbox), see the backgrounds menu of your editor. Of course going outside with your gps recording device, notepad, photo is always an option!

@aseerel4c26 Thank you very much, sir.

Update from the future: it is now possible to use DigitalGlobe maps, which are in many places more current and more detailed than Bing. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DigitalGlobe

@Piskvor : but, be aware of their eula : "By using our imagery in the OSM editor, you understand and agree that you may only use our imagery to trace, and validate edits that must be contributed back to OSM. You cannot download our imagery or use our imagery for any other purpose." It's like working for them for free

You can add layers with images for free on admin page.
