Hi

http://master.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ I can edit & save but it seems to render the main server

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Sandbox_for_editing

There's a bit in the wiki about " configure your client with the correct URL address" If I need to do that how is it done in Potlatch?

There is no rendering of the database on the dev server.

Visiting http://master.apis.dev.openstreetmap.org/ and editing with Potlatch is the correct way to access the sandbox from Potlatch, no need to configure it.

It is necessary to create an account on the dev server, it does not reuse osm.org accounts. It sounds like you have already done this, just mentioning it for other readers.

Ah, OK, thanks. However I'm struggling to see the point of a Sandbox which doesn't render.

Because OSM data is not just about rendering. You can use it for various other things, too. Additionally the dev server can be used to test editors, bots, scripts and similar things.

I worded that reply badly. I'm aware of the other uses for Sandbox, but without rendering it makes testing the standard carto impossible, which is a shame.
