Many streets join at a rounded corner. Mappers often leave them as a right angle intersections. Is there a plug-in that will create a rounded corner by clicking on the intersection node and specifying a radius? Many corners that are rounded by inserting extra nodes manually look sloppy. asked 13 Jan '16, 12:28 Alan01730 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
I haven't used it but the 'fillet' command in the following looks promising for rounding corners in a neat and consistent manner. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/CommandLine answered 13 Jan '16, 13:02 nevw Great idea. I installed the Command Line Plug-in and couldn't make it work. After reading the command line wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/CommandLine I got lost when told to install the "Python interpreter".

The Splinex plugin also looks promissing, although it seems to be broken for current JOSM versions. That said, in my area road curves are very irregular, and I doubt that a bezier tool would be better (time to trace vs smoothness/accuracy of curve) than standard Improve way accuracy and a good pointing device. answered 13 Jan '16, 14:51 Vincent de P... ♦ I tried Splinex some time ago and couldn't figure out how to make it work. Glad to hear it's broken and not just my dumbness.

Is the UtilsPlugin2 with CreateCircleArc of any help to you ? answered 13 Jan '16, 16:42 escada Good idea, but it requires too many steps. It requires adding a nodes on both ways where the streets start to curve. Then you have to relocate the intersection node on the curve. Then select both ways. Then select the three nodes on the curve and finally do a Shift-C.(CreateCircleArc)
