On Windows XP, try these instructions. Java isn't supported on Windows XP because Windows XP isn't supported by Microsoft any more. However, that doesn't mean it won't work. Here for example it says "As noted, users may still continue to use Java 8 on Windows XP at their own risk, but we can no longer provide complete guarantees for Java on Windows XP, since the OS is no longer being updated by Microsoft". answered 15 Nov '15, 22:02 SomeoneElse ♦ |
What Java version did you try to download and install? Tell us exactly!
Maybe for WinXP you need an older Java version, like 1.7 or 1.6
And you followed http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osmosis/Quick_Install_(Windows) ??
I would suggest to get an up-to-date operating system – e.g. most Linux systems are free and for free! :-) @SomeoneElse's cheated downvote: come on ... really?
