I am looking into geocoding based on OSM. It looks like there are multiple alternatives and I am not sure which one is the best. So far I found Pelias[1], Photon[2] and Nominatim[3]. Nominatim seems to be the most popular one, but the fact that it requires guessing if mappers provided full name of street (or only patron's last name)[4] or its github project has pull requests which are few years old[5], makes me think that there might be better alternatives. Does anyone have experience with other engines? What is your opinion about them?

This is a Q&A site where together we try to find the best answer to a given question. (Cf. the faq prominently linked in the top right.) Your question is not a question that fits this schema; you're asking for a broad range of experiences with different kinds of software. Such discussion-type questions are a much better fit for mailing lists. Try the general talk list or the more specific geocoding list.
