You can find a list of garmin map providers at the wiki. answered 15 Apr '11, 17:25 Gnonthgol ♦ 1
On Garmin Dakota 20 you can add more than one map file just by giving it a different name (at least gmapsupp1.img gmapsupp2.img ... works). No need to merge maps into one file like wiki says.

This sort of question has been asked quite a few times before - have a look at this list. As Gnonthgol said, there are lots of downloadable maps that should work on your Dakota - the tricky bit is picking the one that is appropriate for you. If you need more help (like how to actually get the map onto your Dakota once you've downloaded it) don't hesitate to ask! answered 18 Apr '11, 12:53 SomeoneElse ♦ |

How can I download maps for GPS Garmin nuvi 295 w for free? answered 26 Apr '11, 17:33 wake SomeoneElse ♦ 2
The same place as mentioned above (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download) - the same data can be copied to a Nuvi (as well as a Dakota, or an eTrex...). Plenty of people have asked questions about OSM data on Nuvis before - it might be helpful to read some previous answers: http://help.openstreetmap.org/search/?q=%2Bgmapsupp+%2Bnuvi&Submit=search&t=question
