Hello, I downloaded this week a map of Austria from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ and installed it on my Garmin-Navigator nüwi 255W. When I tried it out, it became clear, that the navigator couldn´t find the housenumbers of many adresses. I looked it up on the map of openstreetmap.org and saw, that in THIS map all the housenumbers were ok? Here´s an example screenshot: If I search for "Schüttelstraße 27" (which is right of the river), my Garmin nüwi 255W will only find the "Schüttelstraße" as a whole and will send me to the beginning, although you can see, that openstreetmap.org knows the housenumbers of this street. You need to ask the operator of garmin.openstreetmap.nl for example on this forum, address support in garmin files depends on how the resp. provider converted the OSM data and there is no simple, general answer. answered 16 Sep '15, 18:53 SimonPoole ♦ Thank you for your help, I will try that! Thank you for the example. I have checked it and could not find anything strange for Schüttelstraße 27. It is the usual method of address mapping and the entry is over 2 years old. I assume that your Garmin can find housenumbers at all (for other locations), so please go for Simon's advice. As a workaround you could try other OSM-based Garmin maps. answered 17 Sep '15, 05:37 aseerel4c26 ♦ 1
I have a little experience with my Nüvi 205 and I think the problem here are the german special characters (in this case ü and ß). Try searching for a address without these characters and it should work as long as the address exists in OSM.
