How to show campanile on the map? I have little campanile - 3 bells under roof, in my home town. I've added it and tagged as historic:campanile. I've additionally tagged it (based on found examples) as amenity:bell and man_made:campanile, but none of them helped. It's still invisible on the map. How it should be tagged in order to be displayed? The similar bug is with fountains, but AFAIK, it's currently being solved. asked 30 Aug '15, 08:00 GeoLog81 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
To see what other people have mapped a certain feature as, you can use taginfo. In this case, if you search for "campanile", and then click values, you'll see that the most popular value is the 559 man_made=campanile. However as you've seen, not every feature is shown on any of the five styles on the osm.org site. However, if you just want to see the location of them, you can use the "Overpass Turbo" link from taginfo. answered 31 Aug '15, 00:07 SomeoneElse ♦ |
The default view on www.openstreetmap.org can't show everything that is added on every zoom level. Don’t try to work for the renderer, it’s his choice to renderer some of the countless items available. The default view is just that though powered by Mapnik. Or produce your own maps, with or without anything you like. See for example: Maperitive Switch2osm Or others and read this as well http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Category:Renderers answered 30 Aug '15, 10:59 Hendrikklaas I haven't known about the possibility of rendering the map myself. It's interesting, but in that case, what is the 'proper' annotation for campaniles?

A service which could suit your needs (at least party) is uMap. It also allows to place marker(s), draw lines on the map, add names and description to the markers, Remeber that making your own map is just one step, youll need to have a server too, locally. Build on OSM material thats oke. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Develop and according to the general agreements on the use of OSM material.
