Please wait a few minutes before trying again How can I get this problem solved since. Jaap van Veen (the Netherlands) |

Thanks you for your kind words. The problem is that currently the tileserver is nearly constantly busy creating and serving tiles (the PNGs created from the raw OpenStreetMap data and used to build the nice interactive maps). This is task is more important then the export of single area which is therefore automatically suspended whenever the load is high. You can try some other time, especially late in the evening or early in the morning (in the European timezones). Or you see if some other website that uses OpenStreetMap data but doesn't depend on the tileserver offers what you need. One such site that might be helpful is http://maposmatic.org/ . Not that scripts that download and stitch tiles to create larger areas are floating around but actually make this problem worse, so you should not use them. answered 12 Apr '11, 19:45 petschge |
There are more possibilities to produce static map images, have a look at the OSM wiki: answered 13 Apr '11, 17:06 stephan75 |
