Older Garmin Nuvi 255w. Installed a new OSM USA & Canada map. When searching for address it asks for country but skips state. The older map (2012) I was using didn't ask for country, it started with state (and an option to switch states). It doesn't find some of the smaller cities in my area and search for street brings up an unwieldy number of entries. Is there a fix for this? The tool that converts OSM data in to Garmin format maps has a great many options and the providers of such Garmin maps all tend to do things at least slightly differently.
