Hi there,

I need your help/recommendations to avoid routing through a park here in Rostock. It's the huge IGA-Park area alt text

Here you need to pay to enter the park and of course we don't suggest routing through the park if you just want to pass it ;-)

To make this understandable, we tagged all (ok most of) the ways with access=private and fee=yes. While this seems to work for the routers, this results in a visual clutter, as nobody would recognize the paths/footways as such.

I know we don't tag for renderers, but maybe you have similar situations and a better tagging that avoids such problems?

Hi iii, tag the entrances with access=private, fee=yes instead of all the ways. Add specific tags as, foot=yes, bicycle=yes and so on, with opening hours. And let the renderer cope with it !

Access isn't actually private, it's customers. The best place to tag this is the park polygon itself, but adding it on the entrances as well is probably a useful precaution.

Tagging the outline is very unlikely to have any effect on routing (and it's not even clear that it should have an effect). Entrance nodes on non-building features are so-so, a barrier node would be more likely to be considered relevant for routing.

Thanks for your replys. I changed the ways to access=customers and also tagged the gates. I'm not sure if just the gates would help the routers (problem of detecting the side for the restriction)
