I have mapped a number of dive sites using GPS tracks of depth contours. The maps are all svg files drawn with Inkscape and have mostly been published on Wikivoyage via Wikimedia Commons. I am considering loading them onto OSM, but have no idea of how to go about it. I don't know if there are any precedents to follow or if this is a new application. No doubt I could jump in and find out by trial and error, but I prefer to limit the error part of the experience. I would like some pointers on how this should be done.

For info, this sort of thing has been mentioned on mailing lists in the past - there might be some useful reading here:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22depth%22+site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Flists.openstreetmap.org%2Fpipermail%2F&tbs=li:1

(though you might want to exclude e.g. "color depth").
