Good day I work for a fleet management company called Geotab We use the road speeds to record our exceptions. In our application we have the ability to edit the road speed, this in turn sends a request to openstreetorg to validate the road speed. The problem is that some of the road speed are not being updated from our end and i was wondering why ? For instance there is a road here in South Africa called N17 that has been 120 km/h for years now but always seem to revert back to sections of 100 km/h and 80 km/h Why is this Thank you asked 12 May '15, 19:00 Virgil007 |
I suspect ths question would be better suited to the dev mailing list or IRC, given that on the one hand the question is extremely specific and on the other hand there is a lot of information missing that we would need to have to find out what is happening. For example what are you actually (technically) doign when you "this in turn sends a request to openstreetorg to validate the road speed"? answered 12 May '15, 19:05 SimonPoole ♦ Good day Do you know the email address for dev. Our application uses open street org to get the road speed. So for instance the one road will be 60 km/h and then we see what the vehicle is travelling in relation to the road speed. How do i see the road speed in the map editor ? Thank you

Hello Virgil, so you want to know how maxspeed data is contained in the raw OSM database? See the OSM wiki about http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:maxspeed

I just looked at some sections of the N17, e.g this one, but I do not find any section on which a maxspeed is tagged. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. It might also be interesting to know which service or API you are using and where on the N17 you are looking for speed limits
